At MPR Designs, we understand the pride that comes with a dream realized. Your brand deserves a design that captures the essence of your hard work and ambition. In the case of our client, he sought a logo design to give life to his concept and an illustration of his boat to use for printing high-quality t-shirts.
The Design Journey:
Following our consultation, the client expressed a clear vision. He named his boat “Different Direction,” signifying a new journey in his life. His vision was to incorporate various shades of blue while ensuring the design worked seamlessly in black and white. To kick off this creative voyage, we explored a plethora of styles and concepts.
Design Mapping
As our canvas began to take shape with different hues and elements, the client saw his vision coming to life. He was particularly drawn to the interlocking “D’s” at the heart of a compass, a symbol of the new direction he was embarking on. Additionally, he requested the inclusion of a sea turtle and a marlin to celebrate marine wildlife.
Revision One
Our first revision, delivered just days after our second meeting, met with the client’s approval. He resonated with the logo featuring the interlocking “D’s” within the compass, believing it best represented him and his boat.

The Boat Outline and Beyond
The process of crafting the illustration of the boat for printing purposes.
Continued, We got a bigger boat.
Months later, the client reached out to us once again, this time with a request for another boat outline. As we delved into the design process, we discussed the elements of the logo. Together, the client and I decided to craft a cleaner, less intricate version of the logo, one that omitted the marine life elements. This refined design approach aimed to convey a sense of simplicity and elegance, aligning with the client’s evolving vision.
After completing the boat outline and logo, the client presented me with a thrilling challenge: to design a captivating element that would serve as the perfect accent for the boat. Given his expertise as both a seasoned navigator and pilot, he expressed his desire for a propeller from a prop plane—an iconic symbol that would complement the boat’s overall aesthetic. Furthermore, the client sought to incorporate discarded marine life elements from the logo while also concealing a cleverly hidden Mickey, creating an adventure for his son and friends.
Creative Piece: Prop Plane Propeller
With time on our side, we seized the opportunity to create t-shirt renderings, allowing the client to envision the design down the sleeve and make informed decisions for large screen-printing purchases.
We provided the client with high-quality images and artwork that hold sentimental value. We eagerly await future collaborations with this client and his brand, Different Directions.
